New Delhi, Feb 2 (ANI): Breaking the dead lock, the Board of Approvals (BoA) today cleared requests from around 30 notified Special Economic Zones (SEZs) for authorized operations.
During the meeting, chaired by Commerce Secretary G.K. Pillai, the board considered proposals relating to grant of Co-developer status and requests for approval of authorized operations by Developers and co-developers in respect of some of the 63 notified SEZs.The BoA accorded co-developer status to Motorola India Pvt. Ltd. and FOXCONN India Developer Pvt. Ltd.
The board also granted the status to three co-developers in Mahindra World City SEZ in Chennai and Petronet LNG Limited in Cochin Port Trust.
The BoA's decisions assumes significance as the Central Government has stalled the operation in all the notified SEZs in the wake of the recent furore over the land acquisition in Singur and Nadigram districts of West Bengal, and no further approval of upcoming SEZs was being given. (ANI)
